Chef and Big Green Egg advocate Simon Rogan is through to the final of The Great British Menu. On Friday’s episode we saw him present judges Prue Leith, Oliver Peyton and Matthew Fort with all four courses he had been working on last week in the North West heats – where he shared the kitchen with fellow chef Aidan Burn.
The Big Green Egg was seen in all it’s glory and wowed the three judges with it’s versatility and stunning results – last week’s judge Marcus Wareing had commented on Simon’s starter ”…great creative grilling and enjoyable smokey taste” and the other judges were equally impressed.
Prue Leith – “Delicious….The contrasts are amazing, I mean it really does push a few boundaries. The three of us were knocked out by your first course it was just astonishing, it couldn’t have said more clearly, foraging, freshness, country, all that stuff and yet I know that it took hours.” When Aidan Burn commented “I’m going to have a fight on my hands – because Simon is going to cook a blinder…” – he wasn’t wrong!
